Parks
If you want to know what the Parish Council has to offer the community then you might want to start by taking a stroll up to the Parish Council’s King George V site. Next to the Pavilion and bowling green we have the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and tennis court. The MUGA is free to use and available every day without booking. The tennis court can be booked and requires a key code for entry. There are some paid timeslots but many are free of charge. You can book here or using the link at the top of the page.
Our children’s playpark has bright fun equipment so the kids can swing, slide and climb to their hearts content. We also have an outdoor gym providing residents of all ages with the opportunity to have fun and get fit outdoors. Bring your picnic and use the picnic tables in the play park and next to the wooded area. And if you fancy a kick around there’s the King George V playing field. The Parish Council also maintain the Abbey Road play area and the Newcastle Terrace playing field.
The Pavilion is used by various community groups as well as being the office of the Parish Clerk and groundsman and for Parish Council meetings. It has recently been refurbished and is well maintained with a kitchen, toilet, sofas, tables and chairs. Do get in touch if you are looking for a space like this for your community group or event.
There’s also our Memorial Garden, a true community space which has been developed in response to your feedback. As well as being the site of the war memorial, mining memorial and parish flag, it is an attractive place to walk and sit.
Have a look in the photo gallery if you want to see more pictures or come along and see for yourself.
