Framwellgate Moor / Pity Me/Brasside
History of our area
Sally Hoddy who lives in Pity Me has produced this history of the parish from various sources – the parish council would wish to thank her publically for her contribution to this very important part of our website.
The Fidler Saga – by George Brown
Councillor Peter Dawson has used sources from Mr George Brown (nephew of the author), and his family, and would like to thank them for their help in providing resources and other assistance in producing this document. He is also in contact with members of Horace Fidler’s family who very kindly helped by allowing us to use photographs of their great uncle’s works of art – we are very grateful to them for their assistance.
The document is laid out to look as closely as possible like the original typescript – with additional material from various sources. It is a draft at the moment, but it is intended that a more polished version will eventually emerge. There are still one or two leads which may lead to further information becoming available.
George Brown – My School Days
George Brown has written extensively about the history of Framwellgate Moor – this is his account of his school days.
